All
papers are subject to peer review. Papers are accepted or rejected
for publication and published soley on the basis of merit. For
manuscripts that go for review, the Editorial Office will communicate
the outcome to the authors within three months of receipt. If
there are any delays, the authors will be informed. Revised manuscripts
should be submitted within three months and will be subject to
further evaluation by reviewers as well as the Editor.
Conservation
and Society carries out a pre-review to assess a manuscript's
suitability for the journal. The Editor carries out an initial
evaluation of each manuscript and may consult an Associate Editor
during the pre-review process. Potential manuscripts are then
sent to an Associate Editor (or Subject Editor) who will identify
reviewers and oversee the review process for that manuscript.
Associate Editors as well as reviewers are provided manuscript
rating sheets. The Associate Editor then communicates the reviewer’s
comments as well as his own comments and recommendations for the
manuscript. Reviewers are given the choice to remain anonymous.
Authors
are free to mention potential reviewers and also name individuals
to whom their manuscripts should not be sent (please provide reason),
but the Editor’s decision will be final in this regard.
Authors may also suggest a supervising editor for their manuscript
from the members of the Editorial Board.
